Fameye, a singer and songwriter from Ghana, is optimistic that his distinctive sound and deep lyrics would help him win this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year.

The “Praise” singer explained his reasoning to the hosts of New Day on TV3 by saying that he feels his music affects listeners’ hearts and enables them to relate to and connect with one another.

“I should take the Song Of Writer every year because when I release my music I want it to touch the hearts of people and connect with them,” he opined

The artist from Bogoso, Peter Famiyeh Bozah, who was born, was unwavering in his belief in his ability to write songs since the prize would be a testament to his talent and labor of love.

“Everyone knows that if it comes to the lyrics… but I am not being a braggart. The award is not actually giving me the validation that I’m good… The award is giving me some bragging rights because I know I put in the work and I deserve to win.”

Fameye, 28, who defeated Kofi Kinaata to win Songwriter of the Year in 2022, wants to keep things the same.

However, he questioned Kinaata’s exclusion from the category and then praised all the nominees after paying tribute to Kinaata.

Piese Esther and Way3 Mi Yie, OH Paradise by Black Sherif, Hewale Lala by Perez Music, My Meditation by Diana Hamilton, and This Far from the Staples by Ewura Abena are among the candidates for this year.
